The Woody Program

The Woody Program is a Friends of Woodland effort dedicated to ensuring that every child at Woodland Elementary has reliable access to the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive. No child should struggle to focus in class because of hunger, and the Woody Program works to bridge that gap with dignity, care, and consistency.

Each year, the program provides front-desk snack supplies twice—once at the beginning of each semester—to support students who arrive at school hungry, who may not have breakfast available at home, or who need a small boost to get through the day. These snacks are offered discreetly and compassionately by school staff, ensuring that students can stay engaged and ready to learn.

In addition, the program offers critical support to families by contributing funds to the school cafeteria to help cover overdue lunch accounts. When lunch debt accumulates, students can be denied a hot lunch. The Woody Program helps prevent this by reducing outstanding balances so children can continue receiving the warm, nutritious meals they deserve—without interruption and without stigma.

This initiative is funded entirely through the generosity of our community and local partners. Donations to the Woody Program directly support the wellbeing of Woodland students and help us provide immediate, meaningful relief to children facing food insecurity.

Together, we can ensure that The Woody Program continues to be a dependable source of nourishment, comfort, and care for every child who needs it.
